Full Job Description

As a Chemical Process Operator, you will work within the operations team and report to a Production Lead. Through a programme of both on and off the job training, this role will potentially lead towards becoming a Skilled Operator.
Your goal will be to develop the necessary skills to operate intricate equipment, chemical processes, industrial processes and other manual tasks. Your success will contribute to the safe running of the operations.

Your responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for your own safety, complying with JM's safe working practices and following PPE direction, contributing to a healthy and safe working environment

  • Follow all relevant process related documentation such as risk analysis, process instructions and standard work documents

  • Support the operations team in the skilled execution of operator activities and adhere to the production schedule to ensure the on-time delivery of quality product

  • Complete all necessary batch sheets and handovers to ensure continuous production

  • Ensure adherence to 5S standards, cooperate and collaborate with other team members to continually drive our proactive operator programme, participate in failure investigations, identify and report back reliability issues within the plant

  • Carry out basic preventative maintenance checks and Reporting incidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions and sources of error promptly

    A minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent, at Grade A to C including English, Maths and Science

  • High personal Health & Safety standards and an understanding of EHS and its importance in the workplace

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Be a team player able to build positive working relationships and support other disciplines if required

  • Ability to work with efficiency, accuracy and ability to meet deadlines

  • Previous experience in the chemical process industry (desirable)

    The operator might be exposed to: Hot working, Noise (>85dB), heavy lifting (up to 25kg), chemicals including acids and alkaline

  • Current working hours: 12-hour day and night shifts including weekends and bank holidays on a 4s and 5s shift pattern
