Consultant Psychiatrist - Old Age Psychiatry - Community

Participate in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis, and formulation of patients. Provide medical leadership, consultant, advice and guidance to ensure that care and treatment are safe, efficient, effective and within national guidelines. Provide medical assessment, diagnosis and formulation. Upon completion, advise on diagnosis and treatment to the patient, family, clinical team, primary care and external providers. To liaise, advise and consult with other consultants, working closely to ensure transitions are managed safely. To respond quickly to changing clinical situations in order to manage risk and prevent relapse. To make assessments and provide recommendations under the Mental Health Act. To train and supervise trainee medical staff, including medical students and other allied professionals. To contribute to the ongoing training and development programs within the service. To lead and advise on research and audit projects in the service, in line with the clinical governance agenda.
To provide or ensure referral to the appropriate service for provision of up to date evidence based interventions. To work with statutory and non-statutory services to provide a whole system approach to recovery. To complete administrative tasks defined in the job plan as necessary to ensure patient safety and the fulfilment of the clinical role. Participate in the locality on-call rota
