Full Job Description

The role of 0-19 Enhanced Service Fathers Worker is a new role for 12 months to work alongside Family Nurses and the Enhanced Health Visiting service in Wirral. The successful candidate will work with first time fathers-to-be and fathers of very young children in their homes or community settings. The fathers will be identified by the Family Nurse or the Enhanced Health Visitor as requiring additional support to become the best father they can be- promoting sensitive and responsive parenting; supporting access to holistic interventions from other agencies and employment, education or training. The Fathers worker will use a trauma informed approach to engage and work with fathers alongside the Family Nurse or Health visitor for several months to improve outcomes for them and their child, work alongside the Family Nurse or Enhanced Health Visitor to engage young first time fathers who often have additional vulnerabilities and risk, using advanced communication skills and a trauma informed approach.
work independently in home and/or community settings with fathers and their young children.
support the fathers to develop evidence based parenting approaches and to understand their role in their child's development and health.
work with other agencies including drug and alcohol prevention/support services; colleges; employers; housing; children's social care; 'leaving care' workers; Family Hubs to promote holistic support.
Use 0-19 services bespoke Journey of Change Tool to collaboratively assess need with fathers, plan work with them on their journey of early parenthood, and measure outcomes with the aim of building self-efficacy.

Salary Expectations: The Trust pays staff in line with national NHS Terms and Conditions. Relevant experience may be considered when salary offers are made.
