Full Job Description

Trowell Garden Centre is an independently owned family centre, we are currently looking for a part -time cleaning operative who will assist with the upkeep of the facilities on site to ensure our customers and staff have clean and tidy surroundings in which to shop and work. This part-time post includes working every other weekend, some bank holidays and the occasional late night., Assist with the upkeep of all the facilities on site (customer & staff toilets, retail areas, staff room, offices and storage areas)., · Sweeping, vacuum, carpet shampooing, steam cleaning and mopping floors.
· Servicing all toilets, ensuring all wash rooms are sparkling and spotless, toilets immaculate and supplies are topped up.
· Tackle heavy cleaning jobs on request
· Cleaning, dusting and wiping down communal areas (retail areas, staff room, offices and stores areas).
· Ensure walkways remain clear and free of debris, by removing rubbish regularly from stores areas, shop floor and Cafe.
· Maintenance of storage areas and packing areas, keeping them clean and free from debris
· Assisting with making up and storage of display.
· Keep the cleaning stores in order, and stocked at all times, informing management when new supplies are required.
· Mix and dispose of all cleaning solutions appropriately
· Keep management informed when maintenance is required
· Cleaning and sanitising wheelchairs and children's trolleys.
· End of day storage of customer trolleys.

  • You will need to have the ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning

  • Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours

  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage and disposal methods

  • Good organisational ability, with the ability to prioritise workload make decisions and work well within a team or independently when required.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Numerate and literate

  • Excellent communication skills
