Full Job Description

  • Perform basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, pruning hedges and small tree's, removing rubbish, managing weed control, leaf clearing and watering the plants.

  • Plant and nurture plants, hedges, tree's as required, including the maintenance of boarders.

  • Advising your manager as required of any garden pests or diseases and taking appropriate action.

  • Sweep all paths and hard surfaced areas around College, carrying out snow-clearing and frost gritting in the winter months.

  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are maintained in the correct and safe manner

  • Keep the garden shed clean, tidy and safe

  • Work with colleagues to share best practise and ensure policies are adhered to

  • Ensure the upkeep of the College, report any problems as necessary and help to keep the College litter free.

  • Suggest and implement new ways of working and ideas, be an advocate for Continuous Improvement.

  • Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures

  • Complete ad hoc tasks as required

  • What we need

    We are looking for a green fingered individual who will ensure the efficient day-to-day upkeep of the College's gardens and grounds., The successful candidate will have the ability to follow instructions whilst taking a proactive approach. They will be self motivated with the ability to work unsupervised and to a high standard whilst understanding the requirements of the role.
    The successful candidate must have:
  • Previous experience in gardening

  • Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety with the ability to comply with and update knowledge

  • Full clean driving license

  • Good knowledge of gardening, plants, lawncare and glasshouse work

  • Experience using & maintaining gardening machinery
