Full Job Description

The Global Trade Analyst is responsible for import/export regulatory compliance, oversight of govt programs and documentation requirements needed to support E2E global SC flow of goods. This also includes building internal compliance documentation, training resources, providing import/export compliance support to operations teams and support on trade consultancy projects.

This role will partner closely with Global Trade, logistics, Sourcing, R&D, FSQ, tax, finance and legal.

Accountabilities

EUAU & GEMS Operational & Customs Support

  • Build and execute cross border operational prcesses and escalate when appropriate.

  • Determine appropriate export documentation process to include determination, creation, and ensure recordkeeping requirements are met.

  • Consulting and support to plant/market, logistics marketings, Sales, ITQ R&D and other teams on managing import & export operations, Customs/Health Department regulations/programs related to customer and country requirements, in partnership with FSQ.

  • Assist plants/markets in researching new country requirements to facilitate International Trade Compliance Operations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Customs brokers and freight forwarders and drive continuous improvement actions plans.

  • Ensure government/customs regulatory inquiries are recorded into GGAP.


  • Compliance & Programs
  • Accountable to ensure Trade compliance excellence in the following import/export operational areas: Customs entry filing process, classification, denied party screening, controls, embargoes/sanctions, country of origin and recordkeeping.

  • Conducts ongoing internal Trade Compliance Monthly Post-Entry audits and implements any necessary corrective actions.

  • Monitor Customs broker compliance rate.

  • Execute the Free Trade Agreement program and determine product eligibility to maximize duty avoidance as a Global Role/Responsibility. This includes Customs Classification, Supplier Solicitation, Product Qualification and Certification of materials under various programs.

  • Participation in Importer/Exporter entity management (review and set-up) for EUAU to ensure Trade flows are set up and operations are compliant (paperwork & customs declaration accuracy).

  • Global Feasibility Consultant on the Export Go to Market process (Feasibility, Viability, Prepare to Ship): to ensure products can move into new markets compliantly.

  • Trade Data & Process advocate for the Region (e.g., Country of origin, Tariff codes, Inco terms)

  • Oversee Export screening and review for embargoed countries.

  • Review the GIC Global Trade tasks and complete the GIC Monthly Health check.

  • Actively participate in Global Trade/cross-border projects, and System initiatives., Participate in implementing and improving Trade Compliance Policies and Global Processes.

  • Develop, maintain, and train export & import operational procedures in partnership with executional teams.

  • Own Standard Operations Procedures and documentation for core processes as assigned.

  • Support the implementation of import/export processes for samples and ensure cross-border samples shipment are compliant with Regulations and General Mills standards.

  • Ensure local import/export logistics teams are trained in the policy and standards and participate in the on-going trade compliance training program.

    University degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Business, or related fields

  • 3-5 years' experience in import/export regulatory compliance or similar function for a global organization required.

  • Experience with Import/Export regulations and/or operational processes.

  • Process development, standardization, change mgmt. and execution skills.

  • Ability to excel in a dynamic and ambiguous global environment.

  • Understanding and leveraging of Continuous Improvement tools.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and personal presence to communicate internally and externally, at all levels, across functions, and with government agencies.

  • Ability to understand impact to upstream and downstream Global Trade & FSQ processes.


  • Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Knowledge of Import/Export practices and ocean/land cross border transportation movements.

  • Working knowledge of Incoterms

  • Experience with Systems (SAP, Interspec, GPLM, EClips/GClips & Trade Automation)

  • Ability to influence change, strong project and change management skills.

  • Previous experience in food manufacturing operations, logistics, customer service, or other related functions.

  • Ability to work in a multi-lingual environment
