Full Job Description

At Watford Community Housing, we provide vital services that help people to live better lives. In this newly created role, we're looking for a Governance Administrator to join our Corporate Governance team and help us deliver a smooth and efficient compliance service.

What's the role?

As part of our Governance team, you will use your organisational skills to help us deliver a high-quality corporate governance service.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure a high standard of attention to detail

  • Answer standard enquiries and act as a point of contact internally and externally, providing information to stakeholders.

  • Production of minutes

  • Assist with the administration of the group's insurance programmes

  • Maintain company registers, records and legal documents

  • Any other general administrative activities that arise in the day-to-day business

  • Assist with the smooth operation of Board and Committee meetings

  • Ensure effective meeting coordination including preparing agendas, collating briefing notes and tracking actions

  • Liaise with report contributors in order to collate all submissions as per agreed timelines

  • Create board and committee packs and the circulate these packs within agreed timeframes

  • Maintain records and ensure all previous meeting materials have been logged

  • Assist with the circulation of minutes and actions

  • Undertake other reasonable responsibilities and projects as instructed by the Corporate Governance Manager.

    You will be customer-focused, with the ability to interact empathetically with a wide variety of people. You'll have an excellent grasp of IT / administrative skills and an understanding of how a board committee work. You will have a background in admin/ governance and knowledge of the housing or construction sectors would be a distinct advantage. As some meetings will be outside of normal office hours, you will need to be flexible in your working times and approach.


  • Essential:
  • You will need to maintain a satisfactory basic level DBS check.

  • Experience of supporting with administrative tasks and projects when needed

  • Previous experience of minute taking

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable dealing with a wide range of stakeholders at various levels

  • Report writing skills

  • Time management and attention to detail

  • Experience of Microsoft Office


  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of the housing sector

  • Knowledge of recruitment practices

  • Experience with boards and committees
