Full Job Description

The purpose of this role is to lead the translation of research and development technologies to deliver cultured meat at scale with a maximised protein yield. Lead, manage, support and develop team members to ensure high quality and timely delivery of the collective duties and responsibilities. This is a role that combines with line management and leadership duties, with some laboratory/pilot plant work. To lead aspects of the delivery of company strategy. Contribute positively to the company culture and community.

Objectives

  • Lead and management the translation of tissue engineering discoveries and inventions into an industrialised/manufacturing demonstration setting, with optimised cost and environmental impact performance.

  • Have oversight of R&D developments for translation to pilot plant and other commercial opportunities

  • Lead across the company to realise functional and ideally novel bioprocess design

  • Be responsible and have oversight for the validation and auditing of processes and procedures across bioprocess development activities

  • Line manage and mentor direct reports from different disciplines to deliver objectives/milestones

  • Play a key role in growing and developing the company-wide team

  • As part of the company management, participate in activities to contribute to delivery plans, to ensure milestones are achieved.

    Sustained and demonstrable industrially relevant experience in bioprocess development.

  • Sustained demonstrable ability to successfully line manage a multidisciplinary team from recruitment through the complete career timeline

  • Sustained track record of success in project management of developing, optimizing, and transferring novel R&D cell culture processes to manufacturing

  • Leads by example to create a climate of collaboration and lead teams within it to capture and share knowledge, identify, produce and capitalise on thought leadership, Fundamental understanding of upstream and downstream unit operations and scale-up/scale-down principles for mammalian cell culture in biopharma/cell therapies

  • Hands on design, build of equipment, and commissioning/operation experience for bioprocessing

  • Experienced with tissue engineering systems or a demonstrable ability to apply knowledge to such systems.


  • Desirable:
  • Use of CFD or process modelling tools

  • Implementation of ISO 9001

  • Experience of devising and delivering strategy in a technology-based organisation
