This is an exciting opportunity to play a central part in developing and expanding our psychologically informed obesity service to incorporate more consultation and group offers.

You will promote lifestyle approaches to weight loss and would also be supporting others in the development of their psychological skills.

A psychologically led service we want to develop some new treatment pathways and resource development. Playing a consultative role to our weight management advisors you will need to take a positive approach to your work to engage with others.

You will have a chance to work jointly with other psychology colleagues as well as a wider MDT.

A key part of the role involves one day into the acute hospital setting in Derby where you will work with the MDT on complex referrals and those patients considering bariatric surgery., Main aspects of the role will be

1-1 assessment, formulation, and intervention with individuals with obesity.

Co-production of group-based interventions for our Tier 3 service; based on the current and emerging evidence base around psychological approaches (i.e. Acceptance& Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, other health behaviour change models)

You'll enjoy developing your supervision skills when supporting our weight management advisors with their core weight loss messaging.

Contributing to the development of consultative/ systemic approaches to support patients in their weight loss journeys, perhaps working with families and carers.

Your enthusiastic and creative approach to your work along with a commitment to making Tier 3 services more accessible will be more relevant perhaps that already having experience with obesity.

You'll need to be familiar with health behaviour change models and be accustomed to or open to working with different care providers.

Our current team is small and supportive with everyone having a key, valued role in our service delivery.

You will join an ever-expanding department which includes Health Psychology; Psychologists and allied professionals working into Public Health; cancer services and a Diabetes Education Team.

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people's own homes and via virtual consultations.
