Full Job Description
- Complete all the necessary maintenance and repair tasks required, mainly painting and decorating .
- Check the home's maintenance book for tasks to be completed on a regular basis.
- Monthly checking of the home's emergency lighting and carry out visual checks of all fire-fighting equipment, ensuring that any defects are reported immediately to the Manager.
- Carry out monthly water temperature checks of sinks, showers and baths, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Ensure that all lawn areas within the home's grounds is cut and kept tidy and that gardens remain weed free.
- Ensure that all rubbish waste is collected and placed in the correct coloured bins. All bins to be kept clean and pressure washed on a regular basis.
- Ensure a ready supply of matched paint and undertake ongoing repairs of scuffed paintwork within the home.
- Ensure light bulbs are changed as and when required and that all light shades are clean and free of any flies or debris.
- In cold weather, ensure that all paths around the home are salted and cleared of any snow/ice.
- Liaise with all external contractors working within the home. Ensure that they are carrying out work in a professional and safe way.
- Ensure that all work undertaken is with full consideration to the comfort, security and sensitivity of the residents.
- Collect dispensary medication from GP surgeries and take samples to doctors/surgeries as requested.
- Be available for home communal duties as required; to include driving, cleaning, resident activities and supporting other departments etc.
- The position offered is full time - 5 days a week.; options to be discussed at interview stage.

Dorrington House is looking to recruit a full time Maintenance Assistant on a temporary basis for up to 6 months in our Dereham Home. We're seeking a compassionate individual with, maintenance and DIY experience and is someone who enjoys a challenge and has good attention to detail.
The position is temporary for up to 6 months, might lead to permanent contract. Hourly rate will be reviewed next month, April 2024.
A DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £11.54 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
