Full Job Description

  • Delivery of displays mechanical and thermal designs to meet business requirements on-time with appropriate quality and at the right cost.

  • Modelling of mechanical load cases (push/pull, head impact, vibration, NVH) and of thermal load cases (heat generation from displays and electronics, heat transfer to/from neighbouring components, interaction with HVAC outlets, solar loading).

  • Support the planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of requirements to support programmes and Cycle Plan studies, using our Product Creation Delivery System (PCDS) in conjunction with Agile methodologies and issue management and triage during design, validation and launch phases.

  • Manage design verification test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support engineering test teams with rectification of issues.

    In order to be considered for this position the successful candidate needs to have experience of Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical issues to stakeholders; ability to work independently and proactively, taking full ownership and responsibility for own work; fully invested in achieving a successful result; critical thinker who is able to apply a logical approach to problem resolution and experience of designing to withstand (and subsequent simulation to validate) static and dynamic mechanical load cases for automotive applications., CAD skills to design and manipulate mechanical components and experience of CATIA or other equivalent CAD packages.

  • Experience of simulating thermal interactions for automotive electronics and mechanical hardware.

  • Working knowledge of modelling and correlation techniques and using simulation data to guide engineering judgements.

  • Design for manufacturing and design for six sigma & working knowledge of LS Dyna, Abaqus, Hypermesh or other relevant FEA suites; PCB level and full module thermal simulation skills using Mentor Graphics, Simcenter/ Flowtherm or equivalent tools.

  • A practitioner of quality methods like, 8D, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Failure Modes Effects and Diagnostic Analysis or Fault Tree Analysis.
