Pastry Chef / Baker

As the pastry chef/baker at Wild Thyme deli and kitchen (China Blue) you will be solely in charge of the pastry/sweet area. You will be responsible for maintaining the quality and delicious taste of the pastries/cakes already in place whilst incorporating your own skills, ideas and flair. Within the theme of what we serve, you will be free to create the cakes, bakes, pastries and sweet treats of your choice. As a café, we offer a range of delicious treats on the counter as well as an impressive afternoon tea to get people talking!

We are only open in the daytime so no evening shifts required and working hours can be flexible to suit you. As long as the cakes are made and our customers are satisfied you can plan your own schedule.

The Role:

Solely responsible for the overall running of the pastry/sweet area
To create/produce and deliver a variety of cakes, bakes and pastries to a high standard
Ensure that the section operates effectively on a daily basis
Maintain a sufficient stock level, doing own orders
Create seasonal delights using in season ingredients to enhance flavours
Perform your role in a professional, cost-effective and driven manner.
Transferring knowledge of food safety and health and safety to support the team to ensure a high standard environment.
Ability to show leadership skills through effective communication
A friendly approach to liaising with other departments

Possess a creative flare and ability to use your own initiative using quality ingredients to produce an imaginative and delicious selection of sweet treats. Coming up with new & on trend ideas.
Willingness to learn and expand your knowledge and skill set.
Previous pastry chef experience in a similar environment with a good track record
Your ability to be an excellent team player and take feedback when needed is every bit as important to us as your amazing cakes.
