  • Curriculum Development: Lead the development of specific subjects within the curriculum, ensuring content is current and industry-relevant.

  • Research & Consultancy: Engage in significant research and consultancy activities to enhance the academic and practical learning experience.

  • Course Verification & Leadership: Oversee course verification processes, coordinate course teams, and provide leadership to ensure high standards of education.

  • Impactful Role: Play a crucial role in shaping the future of the related industry by mentoring and educating the next generation of skilled professionals.

  • Classroom Management: To seek to ensure that student retention and achievement targets are met. Provide a safe and healthy environment in which to work and learn. Ensure that adequate resources and materials are provided to enhance learning, thereby enriching the opportunity and experience of learners., Set within the breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site of the Lake District, we are an FE college that consistently punches above its weight on the national stage.   • They will have excellent organisational and time-management skills and be able to prioritise work effectively to meet objectives and deadlines. They will be comfortable with and proactively adapt to rapid changes in educational trends within the sector. They will be able to plan and prioritise their own schedule of work to achieve objectives, have strong IT skills, and be happy to be part of a close-knit team with shared objectives.

    We are offering an opportunity to join our nationally recognised creative team as a Performing Arts Lecturer. Working at our dedicated Arts campus, you will join the team offering a wide range of theatre, dance, and performing arts programmes. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with Kendal's outstanding arts organisations, such as the Brewery Arts Centre, Lakeland Arts Trust, and the town's groundbreaking international festivals.

    We are looking for someone with personal experience in musical theatre and dance who can apply this to their Performing Arts skills and creativity in a range of contexts. We would particularly welcome candidates who have a sound working knowledge of professional theatre practice.

    The successful candidate will themselves be educated to at least Level 4 and capable of sharing their knowledge with our students in an engaging and informative manner that benefits their passion for the subject.

    Teaching experience is desirable, but we are looking for someone who is confident in sharing their experience and knowledge with our students. We would support you in gaining a formal teaching qualification alongside your work with us., A recognised teaching qualification or be willing to obtain within 2 years of appointment
    A Bachelor/Master's degree in an required discipline
    Level 4 qualification (BTEC HNC, NVQ) in a theatre, performing arts or be willing to work towards it
    English, Maths, and Science at Level 2 (GCSE A
  • to C or equivalent), Understanding of Performing Arts and theatre specialisms that you can inspire students to progress into

  • Recent experience of teaching in an FE/HE environment, Effective communication and presentation skills
    Capable use of IT to promote teaching and monitor learning
    Effective work management skills that can be translated into a classroom
    Ability to provide high quality pastoral care to learners
    Good general knowledge of health and safety at work in an educational and relevant vocational environment
    Comprehensive current technical knowledge and skills commensurate with the required vocational delivery
