Full Job Description

We are looking for a diligent Income Officer to join our Student Fees Team here at the University of Bristol for Maternity Leave cover. You will deliver the critical task of income and refund processing, bank reconciliations and dealing with incoming queries from students and other departments/faculties.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the integrity of our financial data and optimising revenue collection processes which will play a key role in supporting the university financial position. This is an exciting opportunity to support such a key function within the Income and Credit Control department.

You will provide day to day support for our external and internal customers while collaborating with various stakeholders. As an Income officer you will collaborate closely with team members to ensure seamless operations.,

  • You will be moving around a variety of different tasks performed by the team so will need to be able to retain a clear bigger picture whilst doing this

  • You will sometimes be responsible for answering emails coming into one of the many email boxes the team managers, which will often lead to making changes within our Student Accounting Model.

  • On other days you will be responsible for processing fee amendments using information provided by the Faculties

  • Fee income comes into several bank accounts and you will sometimes be responsible for the daily processing and reconciling tasks on one of these bank accounts.

  • Using a variety of Microsoft 365 packages on a daily basis to carry out tasks, mainly Excel & Word

  • Identifying and processing refunds

  • Responding to emails from a variety of sources

    You should have a strong interest in finance, payment processing, data analysis and problem solving and be meticulous with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance with financial policies and regulations.


  • You will have strong written and verbal language skills and an ability to explain sometimes complex transactions in a straightforward way.

    You should also have the ability to be flexible to work between teams within Income & Credit Control department.,
  • Experience of working in a financial environment

  • Strong numerical, communication and organisational skill set

  • Flexible, adaptable approach to changing work priorities

  • Possess a strong team ethic.
