The Post

The Queen's School seeks to employ a part time (0.6 FTE) permanent teacher of maths from September 2024 (or earlier depending on candidate availability).

The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a flexible approach to teaching. The ability to teach KS3, KS4 and KS5 is essential.

Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of the maths curriculum and be committed to working collaboratively in a strong and hard-working department.

Moreover, the successful candidate must be able to meet the varied demands of a school environment by working enthusiastically and be able to inspire pupils to achieve the highest possible standards academically and personally.

The Mathematics Department

The mathematics department at The Queen's School consists of four members of staff and four dedicated teaching rooms. All pupils and staff have an iPad. The department is well resourced in terms of teaching materials. The school teaches OCR mathematics and OCR additional maths to top set Year 11; Edexcel A-Level mathematics and further mathematics.

Extra-Curricular

We are proud of our record of success in examinations and in local and national competitions. We enter the UKMT maths challenges at all levels and many girls receive awards for their efforts. We have won the regional team event in recent years and as such our mathematics team qualified for the national final of the National Cipher Challenge Competition, putting us in the top 50 of the 1200 schools who entered. We also continue to enjoy success in the prestigious competitions organised by the Mathematical Education on Merseyside (MEM), an organisation made of up of the 3 universities in Liverpool.
