Void Multi Skilled Operative and Multi Trade Operative

We are seeking additional Multi Skilled and Multi Trade Operatives for our in-house void repairs team to help continue and improve the service delivery. As a key member of our Voids & Lettings Service, you will be part of a successful team responsible for repairs and refurbishment on empty properties within Swindon Borough Council's housing stock.

You will need to have the knowledge and skills in order to complete all aspects of repairs within the properties scope of works. You will also be responsible for the on time delivery of all works in line with Swindon Borough Council's current re-let standards policy.

As part of the role, but not limited to, you will be required to carry out a variety of repairs as defined in job orders, you will also be able to identify additional problems/faults and carry out appropriate measures to correct them immediately. This will require you to have a good general knowledge and understanding of various trades, along with the skills to complete multiple tasks. You will also need to be able to work to tight deadlines and work in a clean, tidy and proficient manner.

You will also assist with the clearance of belongings and waste from empty homes and disposal at the local recycling centre.

The Voids Team has a high and fast turnover of works, so a good level of time management is required, as this will play a key part in the success of this role. You will report directly to the Voids Supervisor, but will also be required on occasion to liaise with other members of the Voids & Lettings Team, along with tenants and members from other departments.

With an acute awareness and full understanding of Health and Safety, you will endeavour to complete your duties with efficiency and in a controlled safe manner.

Multi Skilled Trade Operative will be required to have a Recognised Trade Qualification in a core building Trade i.e. Carpentry, Plumbing, Bricklayer, Decorator, Plasterer etc.

Must be able to work on your own when required, but also have the ability to be part of a busy productive team. Good communication skills are necessary for this role, as you will be dealing with a variety of individuals across various departments.

You must hold a full UK driving licence.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act "for the effective performance of a customer-facing role")., Potential applicants are sometimes put off if they don't meet 100% of the requirements.
